About Me

My name is Mohammed Al-Shar’. I was born on April 2, 1976 in Irbid, Jordan.
I have been blind ever since I was born because of Retinitis Pigmentosa - RP.
I did my elementary studies at a school for the blind in Marka, Amman. Afterwards, I got my high school certificate in my home town Al-husson in Irbid,
Jordan.
in 1994, I did my B.A. degree in Yarmouk University and graduated with that degree in English Language and Literature in 1998.
I first took teaching as a profession. I taught at my home town's secondary school for about 4 years, 1999/2003. In the year 2003 I taught at a school for the blind in Amman. then I taught at another school in amman / abu nseer in 2004.
In the summer of 2005 I was delegated to work at The Friendship Association for the Blind. My delegation ended in July 2006
That same month I joined Nattiq Technologies, a premier company in the field of assistive technology in the Middle East. My job there includes technical support, software development, maintaining web site, and training. One of the biggest projects I ever undertook during my work at Nattiq was building their website, which is now the biggest portal for assistive technology for Arabs.
My job at Nattiq technology has also given me a chance to work closely with some of the biggest companies worldwide in the field of assistive technology including
- Dolphin computer access, / UK
- Nuance / Belgium
- handytech / Germany
- View plus / united states
- Index Braille / United States
- Duxbury
in 2009 I signed a contract with Al bassam Group in Saudi Arabia. I have worked for them for a year and have a bad experience there. More about that in this article
Nowadays I am working full time for Medialog Accessibilities Makers of Arabic Jaws.
My ultimate goal is to become an assistive technology specialist. That’s why I instantly became interested in learning about all of the assistive technology available
In both languages English and Arabic.
I give training courses on using the following screen readers: Jaws for Windows, Hal and Supernova, Ibsar, Vergo, Window-Eyes.
I spent a lot of time on learning web design and have either built or participated in building many sites so far. Some of them are:
- Friendship Association for the Blind
- The Saudi Center for the training of Blind Girls / Jordan
- The Youth association of the blind / Lebanon
- Ride to Stars - a personal website for my Friend Sumaia Al khalidi
I have always thought that computers offer a great chance for us the blind to get started to indulge into living.
Being productive and independent has always been my motivation for learning. Thus, I strongly believe that my fellow blind people should start considering
This type of learning as soon as they can.
When not on my computer desk, I am usually reading or going out with some friends.
